Maud van der Meer

As a former elite swimmer and multiple international medalist, I dedicated myself to the sport for years, competing in European and World Championships, and the Olympic Games. Swimming has shaped a large part of my life: the discipline, the travel, the competitions, and the people I've met along the way.

After the birth of my son Mason in 2018, I made a successful comeback to elite sports, but in 2021 I consciously chose a new chapter. After my swimming career, I discovered my deep interest in health, nutrition, and mentoring others.

That's why I now work as a sports nutritionist, where I combine my knowledge from top-level sports with my passion for a healthy and energetic lifestyle.

Good energy

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, traveling, and continuing to develop myself. I get a lot of satisfaction from inspiring others to reach their full potential—in a way that aligns with their lives, goals, and personality. I'm energized by real people and moments. I'm energized by connection, laughter, time with my family, and the feeling of growing—as a mother, as a person, and as a professional. I love movement, being outdoors, learning new things, and the idea that you can choose what feels right every single day. Sports is where I find my flow. I'm energized by hard work, by the feeling of my body being strong, and by the discipline I've acquired from my swimming career. Now that I work as a sports nutritionist, I get that same energy from guiding others: seeing someone feel better, become stronger, or finally understand what nutrition can do for them.

Goals

For me, "good energy" is a combination of balance, enjoyment, and progress—in small steps, but every day. You might think I still swim a lot, but honestly, that's not the case at all. After so many years in the water, I've actually found joy in other forms of exercise. These days, I mainly do strength training, HIIT, Pilates, flexibility training, and running.

Strength training makes me feel strong and stable. I love HIIT because it's short, intense, and super effective. Pilates and flexibility training help me keep my body balanced—something I've really come to appreciate after my elite athletic career. And running is out of my comfort zone.

Sports are still a big part of my life, but now in a way that suits who I've become: varied, free, and above all, focused on feeling good. I'm currently training for the Copenhagen Half Marathon.
