Marnix t'Hart

My name is Marnix, 27 years old. I have been living in Rotterdam for 8 years. In addition to my work as a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, I am a fanatic runner who also occasionally gets on the bike.

I discovered running about 6 years ago after a turbulent student period that was not really healthy, both mentally and physically. The first few years I ran
irregular due to injuries and little knowledge of training. Over the years I have studied healthy ways to train and have managed to run consistently.

I quickly noticed an interest in long distances. I have run a few marathons and completed my first ultramarathon last summer. This has fueled the need in me to challenge myself further in time and distance. My next big goal is to run a 12-hour track race in the summer of 2023.

Sharing knowledge and experience

One of the things I pay attention to is nutrition, I have found that a largely plant-based diet focused on unprocessed and natural products works well for me as an athlete.

When exercising it is a challenge to stick to these guidelines because it is not very practical to carry a bunch of bananas with you, but it is to put some chemical gels in your pocket. I am glad that companies like Kalkman are being founded to change this.

Recently I started my platform @seekendurance to share more about everything I do around endurance sports. This will be about training for upcoming (ultra)marathons, but also about the (mental) benefits of endurance sports and the importance of the right nutrition. Who knows, I might see you there, come and have a look.
